The Department of Youth Ministry offers a variety of services and workshops to assist parishes and Catholic Schools initiate and sustain a comprehensive youth ministry as outlined in Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry (USCCB, 1997).

Catholic School Retreats – Catholic schools desiring to offer one-day retreats for young people in grades 7-8 are welcome to utilize the Department of Ministry to provide this service. Retreat themes are customized for each group and involve a variety of learning activities and prayer experiences.
National Catholic Youth Conference - As a service to parishes, the Department of Youth Ministry coordinates a diocesan travel group to participate in the biennial National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) sponsored by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM). The next NCYC will be held in November of 2011 in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, Indiana. For more information on NCYC, go to www.nfcym.org.
Parish/School Consultations & Workshops – The initial step in determining the appropriate service to be provided by the Department of Youth Ministry is that of consultation. In the consultation process, key questions will be asked to identify important elements for moving a ministry with youth forward.
Developing Youth Ministry – Developing Youth Ministry in a Parish or Campus Ministry in a Catholic School – This process is designed to build comprehensive ministry among youth in the parish or Catholic School setting. It is founded on the development of a leadership team, which becomes educated about ministry with adolescents, conducts a needs assessment with youth and families and creates a structure to foster the on-going development of youth/campus ministry.
Hiring for Youth Ministry – Parishes desiring to hire a part-time or full-time youth ministry leader may call upon the Department of Youth Ministry to facilitate a search process which seeks input and direction from parish leaders when seeking to compensate a Parish Coordinator of Youth Ministry.
Introduction to Youth Ministry – This workshop introduces a basic understanding of the contemporary situation of youth ministry in the U.S. Catholic Church today, including an overview of the key content of Renewing the Vision. It can be offered as a stand alone workshop to educate parish staff, parish ministry leaders and parents about the work of youth ministry today.
Youth Ministry Needs Assessment & Evaluation – To help parishes and/or schools identify the needs of young people or evaluate the effectiveness of the current state of ministry, the Department of Youth Ministry offers consultative services which include tools and processes to define the landscape of parish youth ministry/Catholic School campus ministry and assess its effectiveness.
